Hi! And welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio November 2021 Essentials Release blog hop! This release is full of essential dies to help you include some easy finishing elements to your design. The blanket stitching, folk edges and stitched edging on all of the dies are super sweet and I made a couple of cards to share with you today, so lets get started.
With my first card I had to use the new Shaker Hearts die set along with the Folk Edge Rectangles! I love to use hearts in cardmaking, because… hearts! Right? But for this first card the new Matte Gold Metallic Pearls are what inspired my color palette: gold embossing, soft pink flowers and cream colored cardstock.
I stamped with a light brown ink onto Cream cardstock (Simon Says Stamp), the Charming Floral Border stamp set, just to get the outline down. I made sure to leave the stamp where it was in the stamping platform so that I can stamp over my colored image. Then I used the Charming Floral Border stencil set to color those beautiful blooms. I put my ink blended image back into the stamping platform and heat embossed with a sparkly gold. Then I placed the larger heart die over the image just where I wanted it and die cut out the heart and set everything aside.
I then grabbed a sheet of pale pink paper, Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), and used the largest of the new Folk Edge Rectangles, (which measures 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches) and the larger heart die in the center again, using the top layer with my stenciled image to line up the heart die. I stashed that pink heart away, as I wouldn’t be needing it for this card. I adhered the pink, folk edge die cut layer straight down to the cardbase, then was able to insert the stenciled and embossed heart piece in that space with more glue.
I used some Scrapboook.com double sided tape to adhere the acetate window to the underside of the top layer, then applied two layers of foam tape on the backside. I made a pile of small pink crystals and a creamy colored iridescent chunky glitter just on top of the inset heart and centered the stenciled layer, with the foam tape, on top. I usually use glue in addition to the tape so that I have a few seconds to make sure it’s just where I want it.
I used the previously released Scripted Greetings dies on some pearly-gold specialty cardstock for my “Hello” sentiment. It was glued to a gold vellum shadow die cut. Then I spent some time arranging my new matte gold pearls and was done!
For my next card I used the new Mini Slimline Stitched Scallop Rectangle. More stitched scallops? Yes please!
I pulled out the previously released Slimline Hearts Builder layering stencil set, and used the layer with the largest hearts with pencils because I was looking for some colors that I didn’t have in my ink collection. I also spent some time coloring them in with very arty/swooshy pencil strokes, but with the glitter over top it’s hard to see that detail. When I was done coloring them in I continued to use the stencil with some Stickles Moon Dust glitter gel. Ooo, those hearts looked like candy when I was done. So pretty!
I cut it down just enough that you could see the larger scallop (in green) frame behind it, but I think if I made this card again I would skip that step. I used the new mini slimline scallop die to layer a white border over the hearts. I used the new shaker hearts die again with more white cardstock and foam tape and that lovely encouraging sentiment is from the Reason to Smile Wreath stamp set.
For some finishing touches I included Pinkfresh’s new Metallic Pearls: Matte Silver just on the sentiment banner and stuck a white and silver bow down on the heart.
I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today, thanks so much for coming by!
-Anne
