Foiled Acetate Layered Tags

Hello my crafty cohorts! I’m up on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with a couple of Christmas tags using the new Folk Garden 2 stamp. And then just because I thought it would look cool, I added a layer of foiled acetate on top using the Folk Garden 2 hot foil plate!

I decided to research traditional Nordic colors for Christmas and found a lot of red and white, and blue and white, so I clear heat embossed the charming Folk Garden 2 stamp onto 2 pieces of white cardstock, and inked over the embossing with Pinkfresh inks: Berrylicious and Sapphire. Heat embossing with white over colored paper would have been faster and easier but I still struggle to get the same perfect results that I do with clear embossing on white paper (#craftinggoals).

After the two pieces of white cardstock were heat embossed and inked up, I used a terry cloth towel to lightly go over the images to clear  off any ink that might obscure the clear embossing. Then I used the Braided Tags die to cut out my tag shapes. I love this new-to-me tag, with that rounded edge on one end? So cute!

Then I pulled out a couple of pencils to color in the stamped shapes to a slightly darker shade of red and blue, just to help them stand out a bit more. It makes a subtle change. You could of course use the accompanying stencil set and apply a slightly darker shade of ink to achieve the same affect.

I used the Folk Edge Circles to die cut out, from white and colored paper, a couple of circles and adhered them straight down to the tag. Then I went ahead and used the new Folk Garden 2 hot foil plate to foil red and cobalt blue onto acetate.

Then I lined up the tag die just right so that the designs would line up with each other and die cut them out. I pulled out Pinkfresh’s Perfect Sentiments: Holiday hot foil plate and die for the Christmas sentiments. I wanted some dimensional shadowing going on and used foam tape to adhere the sentiments to a small circle which was then taped to the acetate tag layer with an even smaller circle of fun foam. I usually like to add an additional tag die cut to the back of my tags, to write on, so there are three layers each for these.

I used eyelets at the top, it helps if you want the layers to sort of swing apart from each other. I added some white flowers, courtesy of the Garden Wreath die set, that were already in my stash to the blue tag and silver pearls to the red tag.

I ended up really liking these tags, and the whole process gave me ideas for future projects. I hope you have been inspired by some of my design choices, thank you so much for coming by!
