Hello my crafty cohorts! I’m up on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with a mini slimline that I made with their new Poinsettia stamp, stencil and die sets and the Holiday Ornaments stencil and die. And although this is not the Christmas card I originally planned to make, I love how the pretty pink glow looks celebratory and perfectly suitable as a Christmas card.
I started out thinking that my card’s main element would be those new, fun ornaments on a slimline, with a bough at the top so I got those stenciled and die cut first. Then I thought I would put some pretty flowers in with the bough and pulled out the Poinsettia stencil set. I used pinks and soft reds for the flowers (Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose and Bubble Gum. Coral Reef and Passion Fruit) and a few different shades of green for the greenery, (Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Olive, Mint, Meadow and Emerald City). When I was done with the flowers I decided that I didn’t want to put most of them in a drawer and add just a few to the card because I liked them so much. So I heat embossed some gold glittery embossing powder over the design, die cut them all out and came up with a new plan.
I inked up more white cardstock, with the same pink and soft reds I used to make the flowers, right on to the card base. Then I splattered with white acrylic paint and added some water to a smush of Bubble Gum ink so that I could splatter that color too. I faded it towards the bottom mostly because I just like that soft transition from white to color.
I realized I could keep a couple of my ornaments and adhered them straight down to the card base tilting them to give the impression that they were swinging from the cluster of flowers. I made a frame using dies from Pinkfresh’s Mini Slimline Essential Bundle and layered the blooms under and over it. The sentiment was made with another new release: Thrill of Hope hot foil plate and some bright green foil. Then it was die cut out and popped up with a little foam tape.
I added Pinkfresh’s gold pearls because I thought they were complementary to the gold embossing and overall warm feeling of the card. Then I was done!
Thanks so much for coming by. I hope that this has inspired you to make something new today!
