Hi everyone! Welcome! It’s time to celebrate Pinkfresh Studio’s February new release collection, “Pure Joy”! The card I want to share with you today was made with a couple of their new releases, the Garden Tapestry and Stippled Plaid press plates. For this ornate but whimsical design, I wanted to see it in a sweet pink palette!
I grabbed a panel of Neenah Classic Crest 110 LB Solar White cardstock and cut it in half to 8 1/2 by 11 in. I pulled out my Betterpress letterpress and inked up the Garden Tapestry plate with Pinkfresh Studio’s Bubble Gum ink. I folded a paper towel and placed it between my card panel and the clear platen before taping it. From my experience, no more than two layers of paper towel works well; much more than that, and the panel starts to warp. There is, of course, specialty, thicker paper available that will take the imprint of the letterpress well without a paper towel, but I wanted the brightness of the solar white paper.
I like to have my panel a little oversized so I can tape down the corners aggressively without worrying about tearing my card. I also try to remember to push the chase (the magnetic platform that the press plate is on) up into the left corner just before I run it through the die-cut machine. It’s not a lot of space, just a tiny bit, but if you need to re-ink and run the panel through again, I think it makes a difference. Then, I ran the press through the die machine, and that pressed tapestry design ended up so, so pretty!
I used another panel of paper for the charming Stippled Plaid press plate, with more Bubble Gum ink. Then, I used the Garden Tapestry stencil set with Sparkling Rose, Lemon Whip, and Sweet Mustard to color everything in and the accompanying die to cut it out. I cut my plaid card to size, wrapped a pink ribbon around it, and taped it to an A2 cardbase. Then, I used foam tape to adhere the die-cut Garden Tapestry to my card. I used the previously released Sweet Blossoms and Stylized Florals die sets for some tiny blooms to arrange around the tapestry and put Glitter Drops in Blush and Gold in the centers.
The sentiment is from the new Pure Joy stamp and die sets. I added a small pink bow using glue dots. And I was done with my card!
