Birthday Floral Circle

Hi, and welcome back! I’m on the blog today with a bright, pretty birthday card made with Pinkfresh’s new Floral Round Frame press plate.

I started with Banana Yellow cardstock, then darkened it with Pinkfresh’s Sweet Mustard for the exact shade of yellow I was looking for. It is usually helpful to start with colored card stock and then shade it rather than with white; less ink is used that way.

Once I got the shade I wanted, I hot-foiled the Floral Round Frame press plate with silver foil. I previously thought that if the press plate were foiled, it would no longer be useful as a press plate; it turns out that is not the case, and the press plate is simple to clean up and use as either a press plate or a hot foil plate.

After it was foiled on my yellow paper, I used my colored pencils to color it, which went super fast. Then I made sure the floral circle stayed centered on the cardstock panel and used a die from the Classic Edgers die set to cut a pretty curved line along one side, trimmed the panel down on the other side, and added a die cut strip of vellum, made with Slim Lacy Edgers

This lacy-edged floral panel was popped up on slightly paler yellow cardstock with fun foam. I threaded a thin green twine along one side of the panel. My happy birthday sentiment is from the With Love Stamp stamp set. I sprinkled some shiny Amber Clear Drops on it, and my card was done!

I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for stopping by.
