Hi everyone! Pinkfresh Studio has a gorgeous new stencil set out this week: Kaleidoscope! I think it’s so pretty; I’ve used it on a couple of projects! I used another new release, Folk Snowflake stamp and die, and the new Scarlet Clear Drops to help make today’s card more Christmas-y.

I started with a panel of white cardstock and blended with Ballet Slipper, Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Berrylicious, and just a little bit of Candy Apple, in that order. I used a very large blender brush to begin with and covered almost half the panel with Ballet Slipper at first, then blended darker shades over it. 

Then I grabbed one of the stencils from the Kaleidoscope stencil set and blended with a heavier hand, the same colors. I used another of the stencils to apply some opaque matte texture paste, knowing it would pick up some of the ink color below and add yet another shade of red to the card. But when it was dry, the texture paste didn’t look red. It looked brownish. Which I didn’t like very much, so I used Pinkfresh’s Calico White pigment over those tiny diamond tiles. It took a long time to dry, and I had to use it twice, but it turned out well!

I have to confess that I intended to use all three stencils in the set. I forgot to use the third stencil, which placed tiny dots in the center of the larger diamond shapes. I think black dots would have looked very cool. Oh well, these things sometimes happen… to me. It’s still ended up being really pretty!

Once my stencil panel was dry, I cut it to 4 X 5 1/4 inches and popped it up over an A2-sized, pink cardbase. Then it was time to make my Folk Snowflake!

With red ink, I stamped the Folk Snowflake onto more white cardstock. Then I clear heat embossed over it (twice), and die-cut it out with two more. I used glue to double up the snowflake to strengthen it. And I adhered the other plain snowflake to the stenciled panel. And popped the red snowflake up over it, turned slightly, with foam tape.

I used a lovely, scripty “Winter Greetings” sentiment from the Folk Snowflake stamp and die sets over the center of the snowflake and spread out a sprinkle of the new Clear Drops: Scarlet across it. Then I was done with my card!
