Hi everyone and Happy New Year! I’m up on the Pinkfresh blog today with a notecard set I’ve wanted to make since I first saw the You’re the Best stamp, stencil, and die design! Three flowers on one stamp, each perfectly sized for a square 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 inch card! And even better, I can then ribbon them up and gift them to someone so that they can mail them out!
I started with a heavy white cardstock in my stamping platform and the You’re the Best stamp. I stamped the flowers using light gray ink, Rocky Slope because I just needed to see where to position the stencil and left the stamp in the platform. I used the accompanying stencil with blender brushes to color the blooms in with Soft Lilac, Lavender, and Candy Violet. The “greenery” was colored in using Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, and Grassy Knoll. Then a gorgeous red Berrylicious was brought in for the smaller blooms. I love red and purple together!
The colored in cardstock was put back into the stamping platform and I stamped over the image with Detail Black to better see the detail. I did this whole process once more making the flowers different colors: Oranges (Indian Summer ink cube collection), a combination of purple and red (Soul of Provence and Heartbeat) for another, and Yellows (Rise and Shine) for the third. Once again I stamped over it all with Detail Black then die cut out all six of the flowers with the accompanying die.
I did a little ink blending and splattering with Pinkfresh inks for backgrounds for some of the blooms and used the Stitched Scallop Square die set for a border element to arrange the flowers on. The colorful flowers also got a little bit of sparkle from glitter gel, because I love to use stencils for that purpose!
For a pretty background for the lavender blooms, I die cut a couple of panels using the Floral & Diamond Tiles coverplate die on white cardstock. I used the Stitched Scallop Circle die set to border the cut-out circles and popped them up on the card with foam tape. I love that lattice-like effect! So darling.
I got everything arranged on 3 1/4 X 3 1/4 card bases. I used the Perfect Sentiments hot foil plate and die with Lavender Petal foil for sentiments for my lavender blooms and left the other three note cards with no sentiment. I used both Jewels and Clear Drops for bling and was done!
I’ll admit that I don’t know what a traditional size is for note cards, (I could have googled it) or even if there is one, but I do know that when you are the artist, you can pretty much do as you like!
I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
