Strong Female Images on This Year’s Halloween Cards

I found this proud lady as part of a collage of old-timey images on a sheet of tissue paper. I just thought, “She is owning it!”. When I combined her with the stamp by Darcie’s Heart and Home, it was a done deal. There are a few different adhesives that would have worked but I just Mod Podged her to some card stock to begin with.

I almost went out of my way to play up the red and blue colors on the image but once I had layered it on top of the black and white striped background, I knew I couldn’t do red, white and blue. Nothing kills spooky faster than the Star Spangled Banner.

This lovely lady was found on the same sheet of tissue paper of vintage Halloween images. I ink smooshed the blue background, then stamped with black embossing powder, in just one corner of the layering card, a Simon Says Stamp background stamp: Modern Rose Blooms. I chose roses because I wanted to keep her romantic-looking. The “Spell” die cut I doubled up with the bottom layer being the same as the copper stars and Nuvo drops. It’s from Echo Park Paper Co. called: Haunted Halloween Word. (I would have linked it here but I couldn’t find it available anywhere.) I used a SSS Heart nesting die for the big black heart in the background and distressed almost every layer with Distress Ink Black Soot.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
