Floral Notes / Love You My Friend

Hi everyone! This brightly colored card is up on Pinkfresh Studio’s blog today. I used one of their new slimline stencils to make it, no stamping… except for the sentiment. I don’t have much experience using stencils for the main image, so this a lot of fun for me, there was a lot of experimenting going on.

This is a 3-stencil set called Floral Notes, and while there is a Floral Notes Stamp set too, today I just used stencils. I taped the first stencil down to some white cardstock and started pulling out some Pinkfresh inks.

I started with the so pretty Fairy Dust collection of pinks and picked a few blooms to shade in. Using a finger dauber the lightest shade went down all over the flower, then the second shade was dotted and swept on the petals and stayed a little closer to the center of the flower and the third shade in the pink collection, Bubble Gum, was dabbed very close to the center. After a little while the different shades blended together beautifully.

I did the same with Pinkfresh’s gorgeous Indian Summer collection on the remaining flowers saving the darkest shades of orange and pink for the 2nd layering stencil. After the flowers were done I used the 3rd stencil in the set for the greenery. Aquamarine and Tidal Pond were applied in the same manner, lighter shade first, and my flowers were done. I used the accompanying Floral Notes die to partially die cut the image and Pinkfresh’s pretty Slim Lacy Edgers to finish of the opposite side of the die cut.

I set the flower panel aside and pulled out another new slimline stencil for the background piece, Horizontal Stripe. I used a blending brush to lightly apply some colors down onto more white card stock and applied some glitter gel over the colors while the stencil was still in place. After it was dry it was cut to fit the slimline card size and I used the same Slim Lacy Edger to die cut one side of it.

I adhered everything down with foam tape for dimension and added some Nuvo drops in the center of the flowers. More sparkle went around the sentiment which I pulled from the You Are My Favorite slimline stamp set and I was done.

I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!
