How beautiful is this “Statement Flowers” stamp by Altenew! I’ve seen so many lovely projects with this stamp already, I couldn’t wait to play with it.
I stamped the image onto Neenah solar white using distress oxide in Antique Linen. Then I pulled out my alcohol markers (Ohuhu / Amazon) and as I was coloring I decided to leave a lot of the strokes in, to not blend it too much. I colored each image completely with the lightest shade for that image, then put in more detail on top of that. When I was done with the markers I pulled out a white pencil to put a few more wispy white strokes on those petals.
For the pink flower I used a melon yellow and a peachy color just in a few areas, then a couple of pinks for a majority of the flower. For the blue flower I originally wanted it to be a soft violet but I just didn’t have the exact shades I wanted (time to go shopping!)… so I put some purple in my blue flower and think it turned out pretty anyway.
I did that trick where you leave the stamp in your stamping platform so I could re-stamp some gold embossing powder on it when I was done coloring, I love to do that!
I made a mistake when I used the wrong Waffle Flower rectangle die to cut it out, it was just a bit too small, I wanted a little more white space around the image. So I mounted the panel on another white panel to extend the white space just a smidge.
Then I used some foam tape to adhere them both to a pink cardstock base. Oh and for the confetti, when I was opening the bag it sort of spilled all over the card and I thought, “That looks pretty! I’m gonna do that.” So I ended up using a whole mess of those crystal clear confetti dots from Studio Katia.
With the sentiment adhered to the card, I was done. I hope that this inspires you to make something new today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
