Color Stained Heart

Hi guys!

This one was lot’s of fun for me! I got a new-to-me product in my hand and had to use it right away.

I used a Simon Says Stamp nested heart die to make a stencil out of a piece of card stock. I laid the stencil down on the panel of water color paper I wanted to use just to make sure I stamped the sentiment in the right place (on the panel, not the stencil), and used black embossing powder so that the sentiment didn’t get destroyed with water. Then I held the stencil slightly above the panel and sprinkled some sparkly gold embossing powder through it and heat set it from the bottom knowing that without any sticky ink being used, such as Versamark, the powder would blow everywhere. Still holding the stencil slightly above the panel I spritzed some water straight down without letting the stencil touch the panel knowing that that would make the water spread and the defining line of the heart would get wonky.

Then I sprinkled some of Paper Artsy’s colored stain (in Cerise) through the stencil and I put it away and pulled out a paint brush that I kept wet to move the color around a little.

I really had fun with this one, and it didn’t take very much time at all. I hope this inspires you to try some colored stains, I know that Nuvo has a line of Shimmer Powders that would work beautifully too.
