Hi guys! Thanks for stopping by here on your Encouragement Card Hop!The inspiration for this card was my Mom. She’s in a difficult situation right now and since she’s a total green thumb and loves all things that grow I thought “flowers!” Lot’s and lot’s of flowers.
I stamped and gold embossed a flower image from Simon Says Stamp Delicate Flowers stamp set. Oxide inks Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Wild Honey were used to water color the flower. To add a little more drama to a fairly subtle color palette, I dropped in a smidge of Spiced Marmalade and randomly picked a few petals for a brush of gold glitter acrylic paint.
I decided I wanted it to look like the small flowers were spilling out from under the main image so I pulled out Sizzix’s Small Tattered Florals die set for the little blooms. And since I don’t have any flower warping tools (someday I will get that Tonic floral tool set!), I used the handle and smooth end of a paint brush to curl the petals. Over and over again. Yes, my finger tips were a little sore by the time I was done, but it was worth it, I loved them.
The base card is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 white cardstock. A sheet of gold dotted vellum was adhered to the same piece of the pinky-peach paper that I also used on the base card. The top panel had to be raised up slightly with foam tape so the tiny flowers could be tucked under.
The bow went down last with a sweet little pearly button on top.
I hope that this card might give you some ideas. And I hope Mom enjoys all the flowers and she knows I’m thinking about her.
