Hi all! This was one of those projects that seemed to happen organically. I saw a 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper in my stash with clusters of roses on it, grabbed some colored pencils and chilled on the couch and colored over a section of the paper. I decided it was pretty and that I wanted to use it so I selected a die to use around it. I did briefly think about carefully tearing the image away from the paper and use it that way but in the end I went with one lovely heart die from Spellbinders / Lace Hearts.
Then it was just a matter of layering and distressing. The bottom layer is white torn paper. Then I used a panel of the same patterned paper that I got my cluster of roses from, but I didn’t want it to compete or be too bright and eye catching, so I used some white ink to distress it back a little. On top of that I used a scalloped stitched rectangle die and the oxide ink Vintage Photo on some more patterned paper from my stash. Antique Linen was used to distress the heart and sentiment strip.
I used some shimmery gold wax that I picked up from a local craft store and a Tim Holtz mini stencil for those flashy stripes under the lace heart.. I particularly loved the torn piece of paper for the happy birthday sentiment which I double stamped. That stamp set can be found here on Simon Says Stamp, as part of the Blossoms and Butterflies collection.
Sometimes you see something that you like, such as pretty patterned paper, and you just start making something. And everything comes together pretty quickly.
Sometimes a little more planning is needed. Oh well, It’s all about having some fun!
Please leave a note and let me know what you think. It’s always appreciated.
Love, Anne
