Pinkfresh Studio “Magical Holiday” Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio “Magical Holiday” Release Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here! PFS is releasing its beautiful holiday collection today, and there are so many pretty things! I was happy to work with a lovely illustration by Isha Gupta called Festive Foliage Tree for my project today. The design suite includes a stamp, press plate (which can also be used as a hot foil plate,) stencil set, and die set. Let’s just get started!

I love a striking color palette, and Christmas cards are great for bold reds, greens, and metallics. But for this card, I was drawn to inspirational images that were softly colored and felt gentle. So, I began my project by putting a Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy cardstock panel in my MISTI. I like that shade of pink, and its texture is a good midway point for ink blending (smooth) and pencil coloring (toothy). I stamped the tree image with Ballet Slipper for a light impression. I left the stamp where it was in my stamping platform and pulled out the stencil set to begin coloring.

I used Citron and Bay Leaf with stencil #1, Key Lime with stencil #2, Cherry Blossom and Peony with stencil #3, Spanish Moss with stencil #4, and Peony and Berrylicious with stencil #5. Once everything was colored in with my PFS inks, I pulled out some colored pencils for a little more detailing. I used a black pencil to go over the stems and a dark red and dark green pencil to apply more shadow and depth to the berries and leaves.

I returned the image to my MISTI to heat emboss gold on some of the tree’s wheat/stems/foliage-looking illustrations. I used a Fantastix bullet-tip applicator coloring tool to apply Versamark on just the parts I wanted. After sprinkling the embossing powder on the image, I used a small paintbrush to clean it up a little before applying heat.

I die-cut the tree and set it aside. I used inks from the Rose Garden collection to ombre color another panel of the Cotton Candy cardstock. I cut out an A-2-sized rectangle and splattered it with white gouache and Brutus Monroe’s Gilded Aqua Pigment. I used Pinkfresh’s Ornate Rectangle Frame die when it was dry for a lovely finishing frame.

The gold sentiment is from the same Festive Foliage Tree stamp set, which I also inked up on one side to help it blend more with the background. I used a Gelly Roll white gel pen to apply some shine to the berries. Then, I finished it off with Pinkfresh’s gold glitter drops. And I am done with my card!

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today! Thanks so much for coming by!

-Anne
