Simon Says Stamp / Beautiful Days

Hi and welcome! I’m on the blog today with a charming Mothers’ Day card (although you can send your Mama a card at any time of the year!). Simon Says Stamp has an exciting release out today, Beautiful Days! And I got my hands on a darling new CZ Design die, Swoopy Love You, Mama!

I kept my design as sweet as the sentiment, using soft peachy-pink colors, and a tan specialty paper with a fun woven texture, (picked up from a local craft store). For a little added interest, I sprinkled some sparkly gold embossing powder in a few places on that tan paper, and very carefully heated it up, I wasn’t sure how the heat would affect the specialty paper, but it worked out fine.

Tip: When I want to sprinkle embossing powder on my project without using embossing ink, (it really spreads out when you sprinkle it on without ink), I’ll melt it from the bottom of the cardstock so that the powder doesn’t blow everywhere. If I want to use embossing ink for more deliberate placement, I use a Q-tip to pick up ink and swipe and dab were I like. Then I use a small, not-used-for-anything-else, paintbrush to break up clumps and thin it out, then heat like normal.

I die cut the sentiment from a matte silver cardstock, and used the coordinating outline die with vellum that had been unsuccessfully foiled with a hot foil plate, it ended up sort of distressed looking, and I popped it all up with foam tape. I actually used two layers of vellum, (so the small pieces of foam tape wouldn’t show) and I wish for the bottom layer I had used non-foiled paper, I think I might have liked that better.

Now, that flower! I love this huge bloom by Simon Says Stamp, it’s called Intricate Daisies and it’s a foil and cut die set. I used it with a satin peach foil, from Spellbinders Satin Pastels Variety Pack, twice. I colored in both of the large daisies with a couple of alcohol ink markers in peachy tones, using quick strokes and not overthinking it. I stacked one atop the other and added some Pinkfresh bling to the center: matte silver Metallic Pearls and gold Glitter Drops.

This was all adhered down to a Simon Says Stamp Ivory cardstock cardbase. Then I was done!

If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them, just leave a comment below. Thank you so much for stopping by!
