Eek – a – Boo!

Hi guys! While I wait for my new Halloween “stuff” (dies/stamps)to get here, I thought I would pull together a couple of sets that I already have from a couple of years ago and have not used yet… (Yikes! This happens to other people, right?)

I started with a die set by Sizzix called “House Fold-Its”, I’ve looked several places and can’t find it available anymore but I found a very cool haunted house die by Sizzix that would work too, I’ll link it here. I ink-blended and splattered with Hero Arts Gold Glimmer metallic ink on the house-shaped base piece, this card will fit into a regular A2 envelope.

For the main house section, I used Honey Bee Stamps “Barn Wood Planks”, (I love the wood grain detail you can get with these dies, especially with heavyweight paper!) with pale pink cardstock and picked a few inks to blend onto them. I used both pinks and reds with green and/or purple blended over it, I love how that changes the final shade. I threw some orange ink onto one of the planks because I thought it made it more interesting to look at. And I curled the wood planks slightly for some realistic dimension.

Then I used a Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club die set from September 2019, this set is not only still available but as of this posting, is currently on sale. It’s called “Eek-a-Boo” and this die set has a lot more costume options than may be immediately apparent, bank robbers, devils, Frankenstein monsters… I’ve seen many super cool projects with this die set.

I enjoyed giving my ghost some eyelashes and a little flower, I stacked the letters for the sentiment to give it more dimension and I deliberately cut the door shape a little bit wonky, because I thought it was appropriate. I used foam tape where necessary for more dimension, and I was done!

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions. Thanks so much for coming by!
