Hi everyone! It’s Anne here, up on the blog with a pretty slimline snowflake card. This project was inspired by Pinkfresh Studio’s monthly challenge for November. The colors were pulled from Pinkfresh’s Days of Splendor collection and are so dreamy and lovely.
I started with a piece of 4 X 9 white cardstock and pulled out a large blender brush to put a lot of Storm blue down and some Blue Jay and Regal Kiss to make the background more interesting than just one color. Then I used one of Pinkfresh’s new slimline stencils, Diagonal stripes, to brush on another layer of Storm and some Nuvo Iron Frost glacier paste, just randomly. After I took off the stencil I splattered with some white gouache, then set it aside to dry.
For the snowflakes I thought about using colored cardstock but I didn’t have just the right colors in my stash, so I used Pinkfresh inks again. They were brushed onto 110 lb. paper because those snowflakes are delicate and lacy and were going to be layered, I didn’t need flimsy paper for that. And of course I used Layered snowflakes from Pinkfresh’s recent holiday release. They’re just so gorgeous.
To layer them I put one of Pinkfresh’s jewels from their Jewels Mix in the center of the bottom piece, in the corresponding shade, then glued the smaller snowflake on top of the jewel. I decided to put a very dark blue “shadow” snowflake on the bottom of each one, flatley adhered to the top layer of the card. So there ended up being three layers to each snowflake.
I used “Be Merry” from the Classic Holiday Words die set with gold metallic specialty paper for the sentiment and put another small jewel in the center of the snowflakes to finish things off.
I hope that this has inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!
