Hi guys! I decided to have a little St. Patricks Day – themed fun with Simon Says Stamp’s lil’ gnome die and some shamrock patterned paper.
Simon’s gnome die come’s in two pieces, one cuts out the hat, nose, beard and body of the gnome, the other die cuts the outline for you to adhere all the pieces to. I used patterned paper for the hats and bodies then pulled out some alcohol markers to add some shading detail… think that part worked out okay. I’ve never done that before, so it was a “wonder what it looks like when I do this” situation. The alcohol markers also came out for the beard and nose. Quick whisking motions with 4 different colors got me some neat looking Irish beards.
After I die cut out the shape of the gnome from the top tag layer I laid it down on top of the bottom layer to glue the rest of the gnome pieces down through the outline, to make sure it was all positioned correctly. I glued some acetate to the back of the top tag layer, scattered sequins, stars and flat backed pearls on top of the gnome then glued the top layer of the tag (the glue went on a double layer of foam tape to give me a few seconds to get it lined up just right) down to the bottom layer.
I decided it needed more gold in addition to the embossing on the top edge of the top tag so I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Celebration Words Script die set to cut the sentiment out of gold mirror specialty paper.
I think these would make great March birthday gift tags! I hope that this inspires you to make something new today! Thanks so much for stopping by.
