Simon Says Stamp! Just For You

Hi guys! Today I’ve got an elegant Mothers Day card using a new release from Simon’s new collection, called Just for You. The stamp that I used is from the sweet Mother’s Day Bouquet stamp set! Let’s get to it!

I gold heat embossed the bouquet onto Bazzill 40 lb. vellum, then I painted the back of the vellum white using some acrylic paint, with just a very little bit of water. I tried my white gel pens at first but could not get it to look good. With the paint, you might have to conduct experiments before applying it to your final project, to decide how much water you want. If I had to do it over, I think I might have applied a second coat, but I thought it worked out well in the end anyway.

After the paint was dry, I used a nested oval die to cut it out and glued it to a colored piece of paper. I offset another mirror gold oval behind it and popped it up over two embossed layers of cardstock, using Simon’s Blossom Field. I did use a brayer roller to apply a very little bit of color (with Distress Oxide Broken China ink) to the folder, before embossing. I dry embossed two pieces of cardstock, just to make sure I had at least one that I liked and they both turned out well, so I decided to use them both, one to layer over the other, with slightly smaller margins and rounded corners.

I used another stamp from the set for the sentiment, (there are a lot of choices!) and die cut it out with another oval die from the set. I added a black string bow and some Pinkfresh Studio Glitter Drops.

And I was done with my card. I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thank you so much for stopping by!
