MFT Birthday Bud’s with Alcohol Markers

Hey guys! I had a lot of “arty” fun coloring in these critters. I decided that I liked seeing the strokes from the markers and worked at not blending the colors too much.

I used MFT’s “Birthday Buds” stamp set to make a fun birthday card (I’m working on my birthday card stash). I stamped and heat embossed with gold… which I actually regretted a little bit later, because I knew that I wanted to use this silver sparkly specialty paper for some inlaid clouds and I try not to use both silver and gold on the same card, unless that’s the point of the design. Oh well. I wasn’t going to re- stamp and color and fussy cut out the images for that tiny flaw.

I used my alcohol markers to color them in and just had fun with color choices. The bunny is purple the sheep is blue and the pig is shades of pink and red. Woo hoo! Good times. I fussy cut out the images and spent some time arranging them on the inked up card stock base. How much fun was it to attach that poor sheep to the pig who was running off with him!

I used a very light touch with some sky blue distress oxide ink for the background. Once I decided on an arrangement, I used the only cloud dies I have, from Mama Elephant “Stitched Sky“, and in-laid them, it was the only way to get everything on the card.

I traced out a section of Simon Says Stamp’s cloud stencil onto a piece of Neenah white for a sort of “valance” on the card, then put three layers of foam tape underneath, I really liked the amount of 3-D space that gave me to arrange the partiers as well as providing space for the sentiment. I did the same with the grass at the bottom to keep the card balanced.

I finally glued everything down and called it a day. I really hope that this inspires you to make something new today, you all inspire me.

Thanks for stopping by!
