Pinkfresh Studio November 2020 Essentials Die Release Blog Hop!

Happy New Release day guys! This one is all essential dies! Woot!

Welcome to your next stop on Pinkfresh Studio November 2020 Essentials Die Release Blog Hop. Angela Simpson’s blog post was just ahead of me and the amazingly talented Caly Person is next. I’ll have links down below to help you get to the next designer.

First up is my white and green Christmas card, using two new Pinkfresh products: Slim Stitches die and Slim Stripes die set. I used the Slim Stitches die, which cuts these super sweet stitched patterns on your paper, on Neenah white cardstock for the base piece and background. And the Slim Stripes die set on more white cardstock and mint green paper. The Slim Stripes die set will cut out three different width’s of strips, so I decided to stack some slimmer strips on top of the wider ones.

I taped my base piece down to my cutting mat, so that I could glue down the strips of paper without it moving. When I was done, I used scissors to cut off the ends of paper and stuck the Slim Stitches die cut background piece onto the card. This card ended up measuring 3 3/4 X 8 3/4.

I used Pinkfresh’s Leafy Branch on some glittery green specialty paper as well as some silver mirror paper. I doubled them up and adhered them down to one end of the card. Then I pulled out a sentiment set that’s awesome for slimlines, Phrase Builder: Happy Holidays, also cut from silver specialty paper (with about three layers of “Happy Christmas” cut from white cardstock underneath for some dimension). I added some pretty green bling from the Jewels Mix and was done.

For this next one I wanted to color with paint and pencils for a little bit. I picked out some hot pressed watercolor paper (it’s a little smoother than cold pressed and takes a stamped image better) and stamped my winter bears, they are just so sweet! Animals in hats! Love it. They’re from Pinkfresh’s 2020 Holiday Release: Tree Trimming Friends. I colored those guys in with colored pencils then pulled out my Pinkfresh liquid watercolors.

I used Sapphire for that blue sky, with a little bit of Licorice to darken it making sure to thin out the color towards the bottom. I splattered with some white enamel paint and set it aside. While my painted panel was drying I die cut out my stripes and put foam tape on some of them, gluing the thin sized stripe straight down to the panel.

I used another new Pinkfresh release for the circle around the bears, Diagonal Stitched Circles die, there are four circles in this set with the alternating circles having the stitching detail. The Good Cheer sentiment is from Merry and Bright Frame stamp and accompanying die set. And decided of course that Pinkfresh’s Jewels Mix had the perfect shade of blue to arrange around the sentiment.

This last card came about because of spare parts. I had some pretty black die cut snowflakes sitting in my extra-die-cuts bowl and the pink square 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 card was in a stash drawer. I combined them with some copper and gray stripes, keeping the angle of the strips varied for a fun “Yay, let’s all celebrate the closing of this year” look. Is it too early for New Years cards?

The snowflakes are from Pinkfresh’s Layered Snowflakes die set… which I’ve used on a lot of my projects lately, so what can I say but I heart those dies. The “Celebrate” sentiment is from a die set exclusively available at Scrapbook.com, called Thin Words: Everyday Script.

I scattered more jewels around the sentiment and was done!

I hope that some of my design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thank you so much for coming by!!

-Anne
