Pinkfresh Studios “Essentials” Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone, and welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio “Essentials” Release Blog Hop! This release contains dies you’ll keep reaching for when working in your crafty space. Each of them provides a fun detail to the edge of whatever die-cut shape you’re using. I used Pinkfresh Studio’s new Blanket Stitched Brackets for a sweet and simple card with layers of color!

I started by going through my paper collection and picking colors I liked together. These ended up being from Spellbinders. I used an A2-sized Ivory cardbase. I cut each panel of colored paper to 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 in. before I used one of the two bracket dies included in the set on one end of the panels. When that was done, I put each of them in my guillotine paper cutter and ensured they measured, from tip to cut, 3 inches so that I could overlap and fan them along the card front.

When everything was sized as I wanted, I started lining them up and applied glue just to the cut end before lining them up on the card base. I wanted to leave the tip and border with the stitching detail free to curl and add dimension. In fact, I grabbed a large barreled paintbrush and encouraged the tip of the die-cut panels to curl up slightly. After I glued the last piece of die-cut paper down and trimmed off the excess, I set it aside and dug through my flower stamps.

I wanted a curly flower with scalloped edges, something very feminine. I ended up using Pinkfresh’s Never Give Up stamp and die sets. Perfect! I stamped and heat-embossed the design onto vellum twice: once with white embossing powder (I like Simon Says Stamp’s fine detail white) and once with a sparkly pink embossing powder that I’ve had for a while (I could only find it at the Frantic Stamper) but haven’t been able to use yet.

After I used the accompanying die to cut them out, I started fussy cutting. I placed blooms and branches randomly around the card, tucked under the tipped-up corners and edges of the die-cut pieces of colored cardstock. Before adhering it to my card, I placed some under the sentiment, Here For You Sentiments hot foil plates and die. I placed iridescent clear drops for more shine and glimmer and was done with my card! I love how curly, flirty, and feminine this card looks. Its simple design meant I only had to choose cardstock colors that work together and a flower from my stamp collection.

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

-Anne
