I’ve just got the one card to share today, so let’s get to it!

I used Simon’s new Jolly Pumpkins die for a fun Halloween card! The die set includes two pumpkin dies, a smaller and a larger one; I ended up using only the smaller one. I found an image on Pinterest that inspired me with a retro-graphic look, and I got to work!

I knew I wanted the cardbase to be black. Then, I started digging through my paper stash to pick out pumpkin colors. That part is always fun! It would be easy to ink up some white cardstock if you wanted to choose colors from your ink collection. I cut out tiny flowers using a die from Pinkfresh Studio’s Stylized Florals to place between the pumpkins.

Even a tiny floral stamp would work well. I think using a die-cut instead of more stamping kept things easier and cleaner for me. I got a bunch of pumpkins and flowers die-cut from the same colored papers and set them aside. (I used a small piece of washi tape on the back of the pumpkin to keep their jack-o-lantern faces in place)

I put an A2-sized black cardstock panel in a stamping platform and white heat embossed a couple of spider webs from Simon’s Spooky Windows stamp set and the sentiment from their Trick or Treat stamp set.

I arranged the pumpkins, knowing I would trim the panel a little and cut the bottom portion off to make room for the sentiment. I liked placing the black panel on a black cardbase; it’s like adding a subtle border around the main image.

I adhered the pumpkins with foam tape, flipped the panel over, and used scissors to trim any overhanging pumpkin parts. Then, I rounded the corners of the panel and stuck it and the sentiment strip to the cardbase with more foam tape. And my retro, funky Halloween card was done!

If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them. I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
