Pinkfresh Studio “Kindness in Bloom” Release Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio “Kindness in Bloom” Release Blog Hop! I used a couple of their new releases for today’s card. I used the Trees stencil set and die along with the Mountains stencil for a pretty, natural scene with lots of dimension.

I started with the Mountains stencil and two panels of cardstock. I inked one panel with just the sky, sun, and birds and the other with everything else, including the mountains in the background and the river and flat land in the foreground. I used Sunkissed for the sky and inked the sun green—a risky color combination, but I ended up liking it!

I can lose interest in my designs unless I take chances and explore. Sometimes they don’t work out, and sometimes they do!

While inking the mountains on the second panel, I applied some texture with my blending brush by holding it down on the paper for a couple of seconds to let the ink saturate the paper to make random patterns. I used the Garden Stroll family of greens for the distant mountains and foreground. I used some Warm Buff and Gathered Twigs on the mountain range in the middle, then lightly brushed Apricot over them to warm that color a bit.

Then, I used a ruler and my craft knife to cut the mountains from the panel. It’s just a bunch of straight lines; it was easy-peasy. Then, I used the new Dotted Fancy Frames with both panels and cut out the sky and the mountain range images. I lined them up, one on top of the other, and used foam tape to pop the mountain range panel up from the sky panel. I also used my craft knife to cut out the clouds to adhere to the sky panel. But they could have been inked in using PFS’s Calico White pigment ink.

I used the Trees stencil set on yet another panel of white cardstock, colored everything using the same green, orange, and brown color palette, and cut it out with the accompanying Trees die. For more dimensionality, I used foam tape for a couple of the trees and cut some extra flowers out to scatter around the scene.

I found a sentiment on the new Always Smiling stamp set, which I thought was lovely for my nature card. I glued down some Espresso jewels and was done!

If there are any questions, I’d love to answer them. I reply to every comment.

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
