Pinkfresh Studio “Here for You” Release Blog Hop

Hi, and welcome to your next stop in the Pinkfresh Studio “Here for You” Release Blog Hop! The project I get to share today was made with their new Garden Party die and the new Here For You sentiments press plate (used to hot foil).

I found a photo on Pinterest (the link is at the bottom of the article) and loved the colors. So, I used it as inspiration for this card of soft corals and aquas. I started by making the flowers first. I used the Garden Party die to cut them from white cardstock twice and vellum once. Later in the process, I die-cut out a few more panels and set them aside in case I wanted more of a specific flower.

I had a lot of flowers cut out! 😁 It’s not a bad thing to have too many flowers. Use the extra on additional cards. (And in pictures! 😉)

I like to color the die-cuts while they’re still in the cardstock panel. Sometimes, I’ll use repositionable tape on the backside to keep them in place. Pinkfresh has a stencil set for this design, so you can color them first, then die-cut them out.

I used Sunkissed and Cherry Blossom for the flowers and Waterfall for the leaves and stems. I probably could have also used Coral Reef, but I didn’t think of it until I was done. Sometimes, Sunkissed and Cherry Blossom overlapped for another variation of color. I left a few of the flowers white, and I also used the die with a couple of silver specialty papers, just in case I wanted to tuck a few branches here and there. But that’s it for coloring.

Someday, I will pick up the “proper” tools for curling and shaping flower petals, such as these, but for now, what I have on hand works fine. I place a double layer of fun foam under the flower; then, I use the ends and barrels of differently-sized paintbrushes to bowl, curl, and shape them. When it came time to glue the various flower parts together, I used tiny foam tape pieces on some for even more separation and dimension.

I used the same three colors—Waterfall, Sunkissed, and Cherry Blossom—on the backing panel using Pinkfresh Studio’s newest large blending brushes (LOVE 😍) to softly “blob” the three colors around the outside of the card and tried not to overlap but to place them side by side. I mostly left the top of the card white. Then, I used the Here For You sentiments press plates to foil a sentiment in copper onto my inked-up backing panel. Using repositionable tape to keep it in place I slid a tiny piece of copper foil between the plate and the cardstock. These sentiments are beautiful, aren’t they? So elegant.

I rounded the corners (I think it looks slightly more modern than pointed corners, but I’ll change my mind about that someday, too) and taped it to an A2-sized cardbase. I took time arranging the flowers in different configurations because I was having fun. Then, I finally settled on one, and adhered everything down.

I sprinkled Pinkfresh’s Clear Drops: Ice around the card (these are great for when you want a little extra shine but no additional colors) and then placed a few Jewels in Espresso for a bit of contrast and to match the color of the hot foiled sentiment. And I was done!

I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hi Anne. When I scrolled down to the card on your blog post I thought the front was vellum with flowers on top. Now I know that it’s your amazing ink blending. I love the soft delicate colors with silver and copper elements mixed in. The layout is arranged beautifully, and I like the curled petals of the flowers. The card’s curved corners match nicely with the full circular flowers. This is my first time to your Blog, and I can’t wait to see what you create next.

    1. Anne

Hi Bo! I do favor the “blob” ink blending technique. 😉 Thank you for all of your kind comments. 🩷
