Hi guys! Welcome to the first stop on the Pinkfresh Studio February 2023 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release blog hop! There will be links at the end of this post to the next designer in the hop as well as back to the whole line-up. I try to answer every comment I get, so I’d be happy to help if you have any questions.
Today I’ve made a gatefold card with a vellum bellyband using the new Nested Arches hot foil plate, Nested Arches die set, and the Arch Florals stamp, stencil, and die sets. For some reason I felt I wanted the opening of the card to split down the middle of the arch, it just appealed to me. So let’s get started!
I started with a panel of white cardstock in the MISTI and stamped it with the beautiful new Arch Florals stamp and light gray ink. Then I lined up the Arch Florals 4-stencil set with the stamped image and used the new Pinkfresh Studio blending brushes to apply yellows and pinks for the blooms, and Summer Shower w/Sparkling Rose on some of the leaves for a purple-ing effect. I put the image back into the stamping platform, (where I left the stamp), and stamped with Detail Black over the design to better see the lovely detail. The flowers were die-cut out and set aside.
For the base of the card, I started with an 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 piece of heavy-weight white cardstock, I like Neenah Solar White 110 lb. I put it on a scoreboard and scored it at 2 1/8 X 6 3/8 inches. Or you can score it at 2 1/8 inches, rotate the paper, and score it again at 2 1/8. I folded those end pieces in so the opening would be in the middle of an A2-sized card.
Then I taped the largest of the Nested Arches hot foil plate to the card and hot foiled with Glimmer’s Citron foil. I also hot foiled with the smaller two arches and die-cut the smaller ones out. I used Pinkfresh’s Rise and Shine (family of yellow) ink colors to blend a swathe of color across the cardbase, over the hot foiled, large arch. I think I also ink blended, more softly, some yellow on the middle-sized arch.
I used foam tape to adhere the two smaller arches together and liquid glue to stick the flowers to the underside of the middle arch. Then I tore a strip of vellum, about an inch wide, and laid it down over the cardbase and folded the ends to the back, just to make the creases and to make sure the band of vellum would fit. It needs to slide on and off the card so I was careful to not make it too tight. Then I glued my double, flowered arches just to the vellum strip, where the vellum meets up to complete and close the band.
I used one of the stencils that comes with the Arch Florals stencil set to ink blend a pink arch shape on the inside of the card, and stamped the florals from the Arch Florals stamp set in Detail Black over it, with another sentiment as well.
I decided I wanted to add a sort of “flow” of small white blooms from one corner of the card to another and used Pinkfresh’s Garden Wreath die set to make them. Some were added to the cardbase which means the belly band will only slide off from the bottom of the card, and not the top.
I got my sentiment from the Arch Florals stamp and die sets, which I popped up with a little more foam tape… because maybe this card wasn’t dimensional enough? It does fit into an A6 envelope or even a 5 X 7 envelope if you like. I decided on no-bling this time.
