Hey guys! As soon as I saw Waffle Flower’s Layered Abstract Flowers I knew I wanted to paper piece with them! They were designed by Galina Filippenko and I think they’re so pretty!

I started by going through my paper pad collections because I wanted colors and patterns that complement each other and that’s all laid out for you in a collection. I forgot that I had so much pretty paper! I was originally only going to make one card but as I flipped through what I had that number quickly grew to like 4 or 5 cards!

I reigned myself in and picked two, one a peachy/olive-evergreen palette and the other black and white.

I die cut out the pieces that I needed (minus the curvy stem that comes with it) and decided after I layered them together to look at them, that it might look better if I included a defining layer. Like copper for the peachy card and silver for the black and white card. I die cut those extra pieces out, from silver and copper specialty paper, and glued the patterned paper on top just slightly offset to make that defining line between pieces of the flower parts.

I also used Waffle Flowers new Swag Background foil plate to dry emboss a die cut circle, I thought the pattern of the swag foil plate looked fancy and would go well that elegant black and white card. If you wanted to hot foil with it, it does have an accompanying stencil set to quickly and easily color in the pattern. I’ll have to do that next!

To dry emboss with the foil plate I drag my cardstock (do the die cutting first) through some misted air, don’t spray water directly on your cardstock. Then follow the manufacturers directions for embossing with your die cutting machine. It’s so normal to have to do it a few times to get the exact results that you like. Maybe try extra shims or a thinner plate, you might have to experiment, it’s okay.

Then everything started getting glued down with foam tape and glue. I added a pretty, green, seam binding ribbon for a pop of color on one card and simple white string on the other. I love the sentiments from Waffle Flower’s Thank You Duo stamp set, which I thought were sweet and could be used for many occasions.

I added some flat backed pearls to the peach & green card, from a giant bag of older bling that I have, and the matte silver metallic pearls for the black and white card are from Pinkfresh Studio. And I was done!
