Pinkfresh Studio April 2022 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release

Hello and welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio April 2022 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release blog hop! I used two new coverplate dies, Intricate Stitched Ovals & Floral Diamond Tiles, and loved the sweet new Simplest Gestures stamp set so much, that I ended up making a couple of cards with it. The stamp set’s cluster of stylized blooms is fun to get creative with, (add dots, stencil lines over them…) without feeling as though you have to make them look realistic. However, I chose to keep it fairly simple and use the Simplest Gestures stencil set to play with some pretty Spring colors.

I put two pieces of white cardstock in the MISTI and heat embossed each of them, using the Simplest Gestures stamp with white and silver embossing powders. Then I pulled out the 4-layer stencil set to color my images with, the stencil set does include some charming sentiments, I just chose not to use them this time around. I also pulled out almost all of my Pinkfresh inks, my table was full of them! It was a little chaotic, but I was having fun. To get that pretty gradient of color on the leaves I used all 4 colors of the Over the Hills ink cube collection. Then I tried to keep the colors Spring-y for the first card and stuck to pinks, purples, and blues for the second card. I gently rubbed off any ink that may be covering up the embossed lines then die-cut them both out with the accompanying die.

For my “green” card, I used the new Floral Tiles coverplate with white cardstock and adhered it to my cardbase. I die cut out a circle to arrange both the flower cluster and sentiment on. I found a gorgeous green-colored vellum in my stash and used that with Pinkfresh’s Nested Circles dies to border the white circle. I also used it to finish off a white bow that’s been knocking about in my craft room for a while, it topped the circle beautifully. Both of the sentiments that I used are from the Perfect Sentiments hot foil plate and black foil. I just love how clean the foiled sentiments look.

For my “purple” card I decided to partially die-cut the Intricate Stitched Ovals coverplate, using the Simplest Gestures die. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when partially die-cutting something is that anything in-between the cutting plates of your die cutting machine will be die-cut, anything outside of the plates will not. I also keep my craft knife handy in case I need to make any small adjustments manually. If you’re interested in using this technique, I encourage you to experiment before you use it on a project that is important to you.

When I placed the flower cluster on the Stitched Ovals die cut, I decided that I wanted some black splatter. When that was dry I adhered the flowers to the die-cut pattern and glued that down to a white panel topped lavender card base. I added some lavender branches, made with the Garden Wreath die set, and a sprinkle of Pinkfresh’s matte silver pearls, then I was done.

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today! Thanks so much for coming by!

-Anne

Where do I start? Love the green and purple – my wedding colors (different shades, but still a fave combo for me). I am gaga over this “Simplest Gestures” set — it’s so versatile and it looks like a different set when done with vs. without stamping or foiling. The colors of your cards (the flowers and the rims of vellum or background cardstock) really catch and hold the viewer’s attention. Great work!!
