Pinkfresh Studio December 2021 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release

Hi everyone! Welcome to your next stop on the Pinkfresh Studio December 2021 Stamp, Die, Stencil, and Hot Foil Release blog hop. I know this hop has been full of beautiful and inspirational ideas, I’m hoping that you find some inspiration here too. I’ve got two colorful cards for you today and used the newly released: Built on Dreams stamp, stencil and die sets, the In the Meadow stamp, stencil and die sets, the Lush Vines hot foil plate AND Metallic Pearls: Sparkling Champagne. Whew!

I started with Neenah white (110 lb.) card stock and the new Built on Dreams stencil set. When I get a new stencil set the first thing I like to do is sit down with my inks and start playing. I don’t usually have a plan in mind right away, I just like to lay down some color to get an idea of what it looks like on paper in front of me. And sometimes those experimental sessions end up being the design that I keep. I used Pinkfresh inks from their purple collection: Soul of Provence, one of their blue collections: Starry Night and their orange collection: Indian Summer.

I die cut out the house shape with the accompanying die and set it aside to work on the background. I decided to hot foil the newly released Lush Vines design with Opal glimmer foil on white card stock for a subtle background… and to be honest it turned out a little more “subtle” than I liked, at least in the photos. In person you can see it a bit better. I read somewhere that the Opal glimmer foil shows up better on colored card stock, so I might have to try that. I die cut out my hot foiled, cardbase panel with the previously released Folk Edge Rectangles die set, which covers the whole card with the largest die measuring 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches. This was adhered down to a light blue card base.

I started adhering everything together. But before I popped that fun house shape up with foam tape I tied a lavender string bow around the house. After everything was glued together I placed a sentiment from the Built on Dreams stamp set right over that big floppy bow. I placed some tiny blue flowers near the top of the card, I think it balances out the design a bit. And then I had fun loading that house up with the new Champagne pearls, I placed them over the dots that are part of one of the stencil layers, there were no hard decisions there! Done!

I started my next card with white card stock again, using the In the Meadow stamp set. I love the look of those long, draping falls of leaves. I used Rocky Slope gray ink and the Memory MISTI which is a large stamping platform and the approximately 8 1/2 X 3 1/2 inch sized stamp fit easily. I left the stamp in the platform and got to work with the accompanying stencil set. If you’re interested I was inspired to use multiple colors with this found image, (link to the photo on Pinterest).

After I was done inking in the design I put it back in the MISTI and heat embossed with WOW! Bright White super fine embossing powder. I die cut all of the pieces out and set them aside. For the background I decided that I wanted to try dry embossing the Lush Vines hot foil plate. I used my 110 lb. white card stock, spritzed some water in the air and waved cut card stock through it, a few times. When I embossed without the added moisture the first time, the paper was cracked here and there, maybe because I was using heavy card stock? When I embossed with the hot plate (following the manufacturers instructions and some light misting), I ended up with a gorgeously dry embossed image.

Just a quick side note: I use the Spellbinders Platinum die cutting machine, and love it! I have no issues with getting anything to fit on it. It is my only die cutting machine though and sometimes I think I need to have one of those darling teeny tiny die cutting machines for little stuff.

I cut my dry embossed image down to 4/14 X 4 1/4 inches and glued it to my square cardbase. I started arranging the colorful images using foam tape in places and decided to include the Stitched Scallop Circle die and more white cardstock to arrange the leaves and flowers around. Now I ended up covering up a lot of that lovely fall of leaves but they managed to inspire the sentiment anyway: “Yesterday was heavy, put it down.” I just thought they went well together, they both feel gentle to me. And who doesn’t have bad days or even difficult periods now and again? The sentiment is from the new Cosmos Bunch stamp set, beautifully designed by the so talented Emily Midgett!

I added some shimmery translucent jewels in various colors and was done with my encouragement card.

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new. Thank you so much for coming by!
