All Hearts come Home for Christmas

Hello and welcome to the blog! I’m also up on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with a fun little square Christmas card. I used a couple of their new releases as well as a couple of previously released products for this sweet seasonal card. Let’s get started!

I began with a piece of white cardstock, the new Blanket Stitched Square dies and the Shaker Hearts dies (Oh my gosh, those hearts! With the stitching?! So sweet!) Then I set that top layer, with the die cut heart, aside and pulled out more white cardstock to ink blend on. I made the heart window first so that I could better view the forest scene through it to decide on what arrangement of trees looked good to me. I ended up needing only two of the six-layer Wintry Forest stencil set because I liked how the trees lined up in the heart-space.

I knew that I wanted something behind the trees that said “sky”, but didn’t want to add blue or gray to my card so I lightly brushed on a small amount of Pinkfresh’s Lemon Whip topped by Warm Buff to get that sort of dark cream/vanilla colored winter sun/sky-like area. It also helped define the white heart shape a little better.

I used the stencil to apply some gold glitter gel to the trees and layered the heart outline over the scene with foam tape. Those charming houses and sentiment both come from the Our Home to Yours stamp and die sets. I made a pile of little dark red, bright red and cream colored flowers using the Garden Wreath die set, from card stock. Then I decided after all the flowers were (glued) on that it was just too much color in that corner of the card, so the white sprigs and leaves were added to break up that heavy red corner.

Those gorgeous Matte Gold pearls were added last and my little square Christmas card was done.

I hope some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!

Oh, yay! Hi Marisela! Beautiful huh… I grew up in Minnesota where we always had snow for Christmas, now I’m in Illinois, where we only sometimes have snow for Christmas. So it may not be beautiful but it will definitely be a “Warmer than usual Christmas!” Thanks so much for coming by Marisela and Happy Christmas to you too.
