Full Panel Shaker with Waffle Flower!

Hello my crafty cohorts! And welcome to a special edition on my blog today. I was very happy to be invited to be a co-host for Waffle Flowers’ Full Panel Shaker Cards weekly challenge. #WFChallenge2110.

When I heard the challenge was about full panel shaker cards I knew I wanted to use a stencil, normally I’m a “dimension is life” kind of gal so making a flat card is a little outside of my comfort zone. Lucky for me I found a beautiful scenic stencil set, Moon Bay, so I sat down with it and just played with color.

I ended up using a palette of purples and blues (and a very little bit of pink around the moon/sun for a slightly warmer tone).

When I was done with my scene I knew I wanted to use a little package of shaker bits by Trinity Stamps called Deep Space Voyage. Now I guess I had that little shaker package for a while, because I couldn’t find it anywhere to link to. Pretty much I loved the colors of the sequins and that it had stars and half moons in it.

Because my shaker mix had stars and moons I decided to use another Waffle Flower stencil, Holiday Stripes, to make stripes in the sky portion of the image, just to help along the “shooting stars” affect. I stacked it on top of one of the stencils from the Moon Bay 3-stencil set to apply the glitter gel. That made it super easy to keep the stripes off of the mountain and moon/sun.

I do have a package of Tonics Creator Shaker Pockets, but I had a hard time working with them, so I ditched them and used a plastic backer sheet for an older stamp set. I creased and folded it over the sides and taped them down (on the backside of the topping card panel) with double sided tape, leaving the top part open to pour in the shaker bits. And just taped it shut when it was full enough. I didn’t want it too full, because then it might obscure my pretty ink blended scene.

I used Waffle Flowers Label Maker Holiday sentiments stamp and die combo for that “Peace Hope Love” sentiment. I love that punch label tape design! How much fun is that?! I just adhered it to the outside of the shaker panel and then I was done with my very first full panel shaker card!

I’ve always loved the idea of adding shiny shaker bits to an image so that they could slide around on top of it, adding a moving layer of sparkle, and this lovely Moon Bay Stencil Trio was perfect for some shooting stars and sequins!

I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make your own shaker card today, and encouraged you to join in the Waffle Flower challenge! Thanks so much for coming by!
