Foiled Silver Sweet Blooms

Hi folks! I’m up on the Pinkfresh blog today with a couple of pretty and elegant projects made with their new Sweet blooms hot foil plate. I ended up making a card and two tags because I had a couple of different ideas as far as color choices go, so I used them both and turned one of the two cards into tags.

When I need to foil a whole plate, something that fills an A2 sized card, I find it easier to start with a slightly larger piece of cardstock, that way if it’s not perfectly centered on the card I still have some room to trim it down. Maybe with more experience it’s easier to get placed just right but for now this works for me. So I did that twice using the Sweet blooms hot foil plate and Spellbinders Glimmer silver hot foil and they came out beautifully.

Then it was time to blend on some color over the foiling. With one of the cards I decided to mask off about 1 3/4 in. down from the top of the panel with some painters tape and with the second card I put color over almost all of it, trying to fade to white at the bottom. I used blender brushes and the ink colors Misty Coast, Rocky Slope and Metropolis on one panel and Ocean BreezeAquamarine and Mermaid Cove with the other, again trying to leave some white space at the bottom. Then I pulled out some color pencils to color in the blooms and leaves.

When I was done with the coloring, for the aquamarine card I cut off the top darkest colored part of the card and adhered it to an A2 (4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches) card base. I cut off another piece of just white cardstock to fill in the top. Then I used Pinkfresh’s Slim Stripes to cut out some shiny strips of silver to glue on top of the seam where the two pieces meet. The tags were cut out using a couple of the dies from the Mini Slimline essentials bundle die set and they also got strips of silver mirror card stock.

For the sentiments, on the aquamarine card I used the “I am so grateful for you” stamp from the Lemons and Blueberries stamp set and die cut it out using a circle die from the Mini Slimline die set again. I also used the Leafy Circle die to cut out a silver wreath to back it. For the tags “Thank You” and “Congrats!” came from the Known and Loved and Seamless Starburst Circles stamp sets, and I used Pinkfresh’s Fancy Label Frames to die cut them out and frame them.

Then it was time for a few bits of sparkle and shine. I used some emerald green jewels from the Essentials: Jewels Mix on the card and some of the new Metallic silver pearls on the tags. Oh! And I stuck a vellum, hot foiled butterfly down on the card because I had some left over from a previous project and thought it worked nicely. To make them I used the Small Butterflies hot foil plate and the Small Butterflies die.

Thanks so much for coming by! I hope these projects have inspired you to make something new today.
