The card that I’m sharing with you today was made with the new Floral Vase layering stencil set, which coordinates with the previously released, beautiful, Floral Vase stamp and die set, as well as the exciting new Small Butterflies hot foil plate and die! There is also a Small Butterflies stamp and stencil set, but I ended up not using them for this project.
Looking at the bouquet on the Floral Vase stamp set, I decided to work with a color palette of blues, cream and gold, mostly because I also wanted to use another Pinkfresh new release, Metallic Pearls: Gold. I really love a light blue with gold accents.
I stamped the bouquet and stems (2 different stamps in the stamp set) with Detail Black on cream cardstock. Using the 5-piece stencil set and some blending brushes I applied: Sky Blue, Summer Shower, Seaside, Storm, Slumber and Sapphire on the blooms. And Pinkfresh inks Mint and Meadow for the greenery. I used Post-It tape (Thanks Heather and Lea!) to quickly and easily mask off parts of the bouquet that were close together on the stencil. I decided to stencil the vase on a separate piece of cardstock using Ocean Breeze and Aquamarine, so I could die cut it out to place on top of the stemmed bouquet.
For the background panel I used the Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles on more cream cardstock for a panel that fits on a slimline card that measures 3 3/4 X 8 3/4 . I brushed on Sky Blue, Summer Shower and a little bit of Seaside, in that order, to create a pretty blue fade down to the bouquet. I splattered with Hero Arts gold glimmer metallic ink, and set it aside to dry.
Those pretty butterflies were made using the new Small Butterflies hot foil plate and Spellbinders Glimmer gold foil on colored vellum. Just type in “colored vellum” on Amazon and you’ll see all kinds of choices. They were glued down using a tiny amount of glue spread across the area that would make contact with the card.
I really had my niece in mind when I made this as she recently graduated from high school and is off to college in the fall. I thought I could send a little encouragement in case she was feeling anxious. I found the sentiment I wanted to use on the previously released Joyful Bouquet stamp set and used it with Wow embossing powder: Manuela’s Honey on a strip of vellum. I love that embossing powder, it’s gold in color but not metallic or sparkly. I thought it was just the right shade.
I used a Stitched Scallop Rectangles die to cut out a light blue frame for the bouquet and started adhering everything down. The flowers were popped up on foam tape and the gold pearls were the last to go down.
