Take Care

Hello and welcome! I’m up on the Pinkfresh blog today with a sweet scalloped square card made with  bright summer colors. I used a number of Pinkfresh products to make this one so let’s get to it!

I started with a previously released stencil set, Argyle which I love so very much, and used it with Apricot and Clementine Pinkfresh inks on white cardstock. I used the second stencil in the set to heat emboss the white criss-crossing stripes then cut it to 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 inches. I used the new Stitched Scallop Square die set to cut out pink, white and green scallop borders. I ended up not using the green border because I liked how the green leaves really popped off of that mostly pink and white card.

Then decided to use the It’s a New Day Floral stampstencil and die set for a pretty flower arrangement. I white heat embossed the stamp set and ink blended with the stencil set using: Ballet SlipperSparkling RoseBubble Gum and a very tiny amount of Raspberry Bliss in the center of the bloom. I used Key Lime and Olive for the leaf stems, keeping the lighter green color towards the tips of the leaves and concentrating the Olive color towards the base. Then I cut everything out with the accompanying die.

When I started arranging all of the pieces on top of the Argyle design, I decided to cut a piece of vellum to size and glued it to the stenciled background (just putting the glue where I knew the scallop border would cover it.) The vellum diffused the bold lines of the argyle design but I got to keep those gorgeous shades of orange.

The outside scallop border was popped up on one layer of foam tape and the inside pink border went straight down on the vellum. The flower and leaves were arranged (with more foam tape) on top of a Stitched Scallop Circle cut from white cardstock. And I just used the outer shadow of the word die Take Care for the sentiment. That was cut from orange and white cardstocks and layered together then adhered to the top of the flower.

I added some bright orange Crystals and a few green Jewels, just because I liked the look of them together on this design. The whole thing was taped down to a 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 pink cardstock card base. Then I was happy with my finished card.

I hope that some of my design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!
