Pinkfresh Studios May Essentials Release

Hi everyone! Welcome to your next stop on Pinkfresh Studio’s May Essentials Release blog hop! This release has got some charming new detailed dies (I love the blanket stitched!), more scalloped border shaped dies, slimline and mini-slimline card and envelope dies… Essentials that will give you more options to help you get started with your next card.

My first card uses the new Blanket Stitched Oval die set. So sweet! I started with some fog gray paper and splattered pink onto it. Then I used the large oval die first, this is a two-die set, and decided to recess it by popping up the framing rectangle with foam tape. I used the second smaller oval die with white cardstock and glued it to the back of a Floral Harmony die cut (they fit perfectly together) I shaded the die cut mostly with Pinkfresh’s Sparkling Rose and just a little bit of their Bubble Gum ink.

When I ink up something that has already been die cut, the brush will catch on all of the rounded edges and darken them slightly more than the rest of the image. I helped it along a bit by using some Raspberry Bliss on the back of the die cut piece too. It had a very subtle affect, I know. What can I say, this is my process.

I used the Leafy Branch die on more white card stock and adhered the branches to the underside of the large oval opening. I grabbed some colored paper from my stash and die cut some tiny turquoise flowers using the Garden Wreath die set (I don’t think I’ve made a card yet since it’s release, that didn’t involve the Garden Wreath die set!) Artistic Bows die set was used to top the oval and provide something for the tag to hang from. “Thanks” was die cut out using Mini Tags with Fillable Words. I pulled a sentiment from the Reason to Smile Wreath stamp set to stamp “just wanted to say” onto vellum and I wrapped the ends of the strip around the top panel piece.

Some sparkling Pinkfresh Jewels went down last and I was done. Oh! I did use some more pink, Sparkling Rose I think, around the edges of the rectangle. I wasn’t loving the look of the gray against the white card base, for some reason it looked boring to me. That pink along the edge made for a pretty, glowy border. Then I was done.

With my next two cards I used the new Mini Slimline Essential Bundle die set.

I used the previously released Reset stamp set to stamp the flowers onto a light pink cardstock and colored them in with pencils. I used the mini slimline stitched die, that is a part of the bundle, to cut out a couple of panels. A white border framed the top panel and the white card base framed the bottom piece. I used the Garden Wreath die set with silver mirror cardstock to fill in the spaces between blooms. A paint brush handle rolled back and forth along the tiny silver branches, while laying on top of a sheet of fun foam, gave them a dimensional curl. It’s likely they would get pressed down if placed in an envelope and mailed but I don’t think that it would ruin the card.

The sentiment, Love You the Most, was die cut out from white cardstock and dark pink paper.

I kept my next mini slimline card fairly simple, but no less charming by using ephemera and patterned paper from Pinkfresh’s Keeping it Real collection. I used patterned paper from the same collection to make the envelope too.

The smaller of the two Blanket Stitched Oval dies was used in the middle of the yellow panel as a window for a shaker. I used a die from the Fancy Label Frames set to stamp the sentiment on. I thought it might be fun to use a Fancy Label Frame with some masking paper, place the mask on the front of a handmade envelope then stamp or ink it up however you like and still have a defined space to add an address.

The, “thanks for everything” sentiment came from the Seamless Starburst Circles stamp set. The top panel was popped up with foam tape and the card was finished off with some yellow jewels placed around the oval.

Thank you so much for coming by, I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today!
