Circle Card With Brilliant Butterflies

Hi guys! I have a fun circle card to share with you today. My Mom asked if I would make a card for her to send to a friend of hers and I knew right away that I wanted to play with My Favorite Things Brilliant Butterflies again (LOVE this stamp set, so, so pretty!) I wanted it to look whimsical and bright and fun.

I used one of my large circle dies, from a large nesting set here’s a link to one that would do the same job (I like that the largest circle measures to 5 1/2 inches. It’s hard to find a set that gets that big.) I used the circle die to sort of trace out on a piece of Neenah white cardstock, where I would do my shading. I used blender brushes and Pinkfresh inks: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine and Mermaid Cove to blend into the white. Then I used a Simon Says stencil, Falling Snow with some glitter gel then die cut out a circle when it was dry. I die cut out another larger circle for the base of the card.

I used a die cut of Curvy Leaves by Pinkfresh Studio in the middle of the card (up on two layers of foam tape) to sort of gather everything around. The butterflies were made with more Pinkfresh ink. I used finger daubers to blend the colors into each other on the stamp then used some embossing ink and glittery gold embossing powder on top of the butterflies. There was a lot of trial and error there, but I wanted what I wanted so I kept going till I had a couple that I really liked. Then they were die cut out.

That sweet scripty “Happy Birthday” sentiment is from a small Scrapbook.com exclusive stamp set called Handmade Essentials, so charming! Then I spent a lot of time with all the elements, moving stuff around… till I just decided to stop, glue this stuff down and get on with my day.

I added some Studio Katia Clear Drops mix two for that lovely dewey look and was done. If I left anything out that you’re curious about, just drop me a note in the comments section, I will answer it.

I really hope that some of my design choices has inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!
