Soft Yellow Floral Circle Card

Hi guys! This one started because I wanted to combine a soft buttery yellow with deep red on gray cardstock. I just thought that combination of colors would be pretty. Then I pulled out Pinkfresh’s floral wreath stamp from the Floral Elements stamp set and decided to make it a circle card.

I used a light shade of gray ink from Pinkfresh called Misty Coast to do the stamping with and a sheet of Fog cardstock from Simon Says to stamp my main image on. The impression was dark enough to see but not too dark to draw over. I left the wreath in the stamping platform so that I could stamp again when I was done coloring.

Then it was just a matter of picking out which of my colored pencils I wanted to use. My struggle with the soft yellow was that it was hard to see. Surprise. I ended up using like 2 different yellows and 3 different tan or brown colors for contrast so that the flower wasn’t too faded looking. The red’s were easy peasy, 3 different shades of red and just a very little bit of black. I decided to make a smattering of the small flowers white and lavender just to keep things interesting.

At the very end of the coloring I realized that I was going to have to use a small amount of paint on the white flowers, because the white pencil just wasn’t bright enough.

I put the colored image back in the MISTI so that I could re-stamp with Versamark and some sparkly silver embossing powder. I die cut it out with the coordinating die, then pulled out my set of nesting circle dies. The die cut wreath was popped up over Smoke cardstock using fun foam. Then I used the same circle die as was used under the floral wreath and traced the outline of the circle die on to some silver heat embossed paper (specialty paper probably would have been easier) and cut it out with my x-acto knife just because I wanted the next layer to be a thinner line. Then I used the next size up for the Lemon Chiffon cardstock and I finished it with Fog.

I used Pinkfresh’s Simply Sentiments- You, stamp set (and die) for the sentiment. I love the flowy script on some of them. So pretty!

When it was all adhered together, I decided to add some white dots (acrylic paint) around the wreath and some black Nuvo drops around the sentiment.

I hope that this inspires you to make something new today. Thanks so much for coming by!
