Colored Pencils on Vintage Botanical Paper

I found a pad of paper that inspired me by Simple Stories – Vintage Botanical, and used Simon Says Stamps new stamp set Window Frames for more leafy green goodness.

I first stamped it with vintage photo oxide ink to more easily use colored pencils, if you emboss first it’s hard to use a pencil in the smaller spaces. Stamped it in an oxide ink, penciled in the color, then re-stamped for the gold embossing remembering to not move the stamp from my Tim Holtz stamping tool.

I used my craft knife to cute out the inside of the frame and saved it to stamp the sentiment on then put back in later. I did also cut it down a little bit after I got it out, I wanted the lavender paper underneath it to show more.

Then I layered peices on top of each other: patterned paper on the gold, gold on the lavender, lavender back on top of the remaining patterned paper (with a little inking around the border of the last piece) then down on some craft paper cardstock.

Pretty little card, good for the January blues. I hope that this inspires you to make something new today. Thanks for stopping by!
