Hey Guys! I picked up a new-to-me die from Pretty Pink Posh called Stacked Edges 2. I’ve wanted it ever since I saw Wanda Guess make a Halloween card with it (I found a post of it on Pretty Pink Posh’s Blog). I finally got my hands on the die set and made a couple of pretty backgrounds.

I used the Argyle die on some pretty patterned papers I picked out (Soooo many ideas, so little time). Then used some Distress Oxides (Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo for the pink and brown valentine, Black Soot and Hickory Smoke for the black and white one) to “vintage” the edges of the die cuts before I glued them all down to 80 lb paper.

When I die cut out the top panel for both the square and rectangle using stitched dies, I was worried my machine might have some trouble because it was two layers of paper, but they were both pretty thin and there were no problems.

The red heart on the black and white valentine was embossed with red glitter embossing powder then I poured a lake of glossy accents on to it. I’m still not sure that part was 100% a success, but it did end up VERY red and glossy and looks cool with a black and white background. For the pink and brown valentine I used some gold glitter embossing powder along with the distress oxides just in random places, because I like sparkly things.

The sentiments were probably the hardest part. For the black and white one, I actually tore off the first sentiment, ( that I had already glued down), and replaced it. For the brown and pink valentine I just sat in front of it for a while. I left it and came back a few times. Eventually I realized that because the background was so busy that whatever I put in the foreground was going to have to be simple, or it would just look like a mess, and then the card just came together.
