Ever since I first saw Pinkfresh Studio’s Folk Hummingbird stamp set, I knew I wanted to do something like this. I saw the flower flourish as part of a heart. So I wished myself Merry Christmas and bought the dies for it too!

I stamped the flower first with gold sparkle embossing powder and colored it in with some Prisma colored pencils (that I won in a 12 Days of Giveaways that The Collective Creators were having! 150 colors! Too awesome.) I partially die the flower and had to keep turning and cutting, turning and cutting just a little, to get it to cut the way I wanted it to. The die cutting machine will only cut the part that is directly in between the two plates, anything that wasn’t sandwiched was not getting cut. Then I partially die cut the heart side with one of my Simon Says nested hearts die. Looking at it now, I’m not really sure it was necessary, the flower/flourish could have been laid over the one side of the heart and it wouldn’t have looked too different. Also it probably wouldn’t have been too difficult to just fussy cut, I think maybe I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Once it was all cut out, I used a couple of Oxide Inks, Spun Sugar and Antique Linen, and mini ink blender, (although while I was doing it I wondered why I wasn’t using a blender brush) to gently shade the opposite side of the heart. Then I used a q-tip and some Versamark sticky ink, to make an interesting effect with gold embossing powder. I used two different patterned papers from my stash to lay on the card base as a background for the heart and stamped the sentiment down at the last, which also came from the Folk Hummingbird stamp set. Such a lovely script in that sentiment, I just love it!
